Its a minefield - looking for a holiday home in Calabria

Please can anyway offer any suggestion? My partner and I are coming out to Calabria end August and wanted to view key ready or resale properties yet every agent I speak to just wants me to look at off plan which I dont want to do (only because I wouldn't buy a property in the UK off plan so wouldn't risk in overseas). it is our intention to buy a small appartment within a complex initially and after a few years sell to invest into a bigger apartment or look at buying a villa. We are serious buyers and dont want to wast anyones time but trying to find someone who would be prepared to show us properties and the area is nearly impossible. Can anyone offer any suggestions?
