Funny Italian customs

Anyone else find customs or ways that don't make sense to you......
My landlady says cold drinks will cause you to get sick. That's why she will never put ice in a drink

My neighbor says air conditioning would be okay if you just used it during the day. But, keeping it on overnight will give you pneumonia. I didn't tell her in the US I've slept with it on all summer all night long due to my sister's terrible allergies. :)
