Should I future proof my life?

This is actually a question I have asked before, i've now been living and working in Italy for a few years and I love it. I am fortunate enough to have a little apartment and enough money to pay the bills. My qusestion is, to what extent should I protect my future, should I start to think about an Italian pension or take out a British one as I am British? What about my house after I will die, the law in Italy isn't the same as the UK. All in all is it ever too early to plan for the future?
