italian resident

I took out Italian residency when I lived in Italy.
I returned to England to work but I am still listed as a resident. This means I pay local taxes but some say I should not need to pay IMU.
Does anyone know If there is a minimum stay each year to remain a resident and thus avoid IMU?
I am from an EU country.
Thanks
