Health Insurance Policy

We will be flying into Genova the first week of October 2014 and will apply for a Permesso di Soggiorno.

I understand that the Questura requires a Health Insurance policy. Do you know of a good insurance company, and the length or period of coverage necessary before the Permesso is issued? Thanks.
