Hello!
My father is an Italian Citizen through marriage (my stepmother is a citizen and therefore passed over the citizenship to him). We thought that I would be next, but because I am (well over) the age of 18 our advisor said that I would have to live in Italy for two years in order to qualify for the dual citizenship.
I have searched many places on the web, but it is difficult to find concise information in one place...so I thought I might pose some questions here.
I understand that in order to obtain a residency visa, you have to have financial means to support yourself. Is there a minimum monthly/annual income that is required? I can't seem to find this anywhere.
I am also married and have a young daughter. I am sure this probably complicates things a bit as I am not moving solo. What kind of important information should I know so that they could come with me for the two years required?
Also, I am just looking for any other general information. I understand it is important to have a good grasp on the language (something we are working on) and to travel over there to find a good place for us to stay (I have some ideas, but you never know until you're there in person).
I'm not looking to jump into this and move ASAP, but rather to compile good information so that when/if we do make this transition, that we are prepared and know what to expect.
Thank you!!
