Hi everyone,
I've read some of the threads on Italian tax authority and Americans living in Italy. I'm still not clear on Social Security income in Retirement.
I'm currently an American citizen but could become an Italian citizen with little difficulty through marriage. My wife of 30 years is an Italian native and now has dual citizenship.
It is likely that my wife will inherit property in Italy. It would make for an ideal retirement home, both the beach and the town center is in walking distance. An international airport is 20 minutes.
We could afford to retire early and keep our small home in the U.S. if our Social Security is not taxable in Italy.
I would also like to have dual citizenship. Our two daughters have relocated to Europe and I would like to eliminate any limits on the length of stay due to residency rules.
Can I become an Italian citizen and reside in Italy without any risk of Italian taxation?
