Carta di Sanitaria

OK, went to ASL, gave them my doctor's name and I am now registered. The doc saw me in the system the next day. How/when will I receive my carta di sanitaria? In the mail? I realize now that because your codice fiscal is on this card that it serves as an ID of sorts.
