How to have a US phone # while living in Italy

I so appreciate the support on the forum! I have one more question (for the time being (-:

I have a Life Coaching practice and would like to keep my phone # (or at the very least have a New York area code). I have had a Skype # in the past (which is cheap), but it's computerized and I can't record my own outgoing voice message - something that could be confusing to potential clients. I don't want a pay a hefty

I am looking for a cost effective solution and wondering if anyone has any suggestions?
