When you book your flight associated with your Elective Residence visa (for consulate appt.), does it need to have you arriving on the exact date that your visa begins? For example, if your visa begins June 1, 2016, do you need to depart on May 31 to arrive in Italy on June 1, so your passport is stamped on that exact date? (I'm flying from west coast in USA so would need to depart the day before). Also, does it matter what your return date is on the ticket? I don't expect to be using the return ticket but wondered if I just book the return date as the latest possible option allowed by the airline? I think I've heard the airline sites max return date is 351 days out.
