Documents required for Permesso

I will arrive in italy in a few weeks and know that I have to apply for my PdS within 8 days.
I want to be sure that I have all of the necessary paperwork compiled and organized as I prepare to depart the US. It is my understanding that I need to submit the same paperwork that I used to apply for the Elective Residence visa. The only thing I'm uncertain about is the need to past tax returns. I have seen a few people mention that they needed this documentation, however, the LA consulate did not require any income tax returns for the ER visa. Does anyone know if I will need to show tax returns for my PdS application? thank you!
