Best / Worst Airlines

Finally getting ready to book my tickets! I'm looking into airfares beginning mid to late April. I'm planning to fly into Venice, then take a shuttle service (via ground) to Trieste. TAP has the best fares, thus far, but reviews are pretty sketchy. I've been planning on buying one way, but in some cases, r/t is much less expensive.

Would love to hear from others re your experience with TAP and/or other airlines. I'll be flying from JFK, but perhaps that doesn't matter.
