I am from the US. I came to Italy with my 1-year student visa last fall, which was endorsed by the art academy where I’m currently taking an art course.
I have decided to take an adult 2-year “Diploma di Maturita” course through an Italian public art institution (Italian high school), seeing how my American GED high school diploma was not recognized by MIUR, and they will not allow me to attend any undergraduate program on any accredited university in Italy.
My question is:
My current 1-year visa expires in September. I’m currently applying to an institute, as the deadline to submit the application is May 31st.
If my application gets accepted, do I need to request a new visa at the Italian Embassy in the United States, OR, can I ask for a renewal of my permesso di soggiorno through my new school?
