Shipping personal goods to Italy

Hello,
I am an American mid 50's, leaving my American job and will be moving to Italy. I am engaged to an Italian lady who lives in Italy (met four years ago) and we plan on marrying in Italy in fall 2018. In order to spend more time preparing for the marriage, I have obtained an eight month Student Visa from the Italian consulate effective January 2018 and have enrolled in an Italian language/culture school. I would like to ship some household items (stereo system, custom wood furniture, two bicycles and misc. items). About a pallet full of items.
While my Italian lady is checking with customs, I have been reading conflicting information on the web regarding shipping personal items.
1. Does Italy allow to ship personal goods listed above?
2. Are there tariffs (taxes) to be paid on personal goods (I read one article stating I would be allowed one shipping with no tariff charges)
3. At what point can I ship and receive the goods? Can I receive having a student visa? Or do I need to wait until after we marry?
4. What documents are required to present to customs?

I very much thank you in advance in providing any information that perhaps you have experienced.
