Missing US Postal Service Package

Hello -while we have had luck in the past - a box we mailed to Italy (via the US Postal Service) has not arrived (it’s been almost 6 week). The suggestion from the USPS was to “check with customs in Italy”... does anyone know how one proceeds (in Italy). Thanks.
