I thought I would start a new topic for this question, as it's connected, but slightly different from my previous post. So, here goes:
I arrived in Italy in April, but applied for residency in August. As I was here as a tourist for the first few months, rather than resident, am I responsible for filing taxes in Italy for 2017?
I know the 183 day rule states if someone is in the country for 183 days or more they are liable for taxes, however, several people, including a commercialista, has told me I don't have to file, as I didn't have my residency until August. Curious to hear your interpretation.
I am a dual citizen, should that make a difference.
Thanks again for your help!
