Health Insurance

I am planning on teaching English in Italy, (I have all the credentials) for a year or two. When/if I get the job, and the teaching Visa of course, am I covered with the Italian Health Care system automatically? Do I need a supplemental Health Care plan? Any thoughts on this at all are appreciated.
