Married Italian citizenship

Like some people on here I am trying to figure out if I should do my dual citizenship in Italy or the US. Regardless here are a few things I need help on
1) I married a person who entered us without documents. ( for safety reasons they had to do this its terrible where my spouse came from) My spouse is now in a cancellation of removal case and has a work permit. They accepted our marriage an everything and its all legit we have proven all to judge, etc. We been married for 12 years and been together for 17 years. When applying for my Italian citizenship - through my grandpa- do I need to list my spouse on my application and what documents would they need in Italy or the US from my spouse?
My spouse has a passport NOW from their country. My spouse does not have a green card yet in US but working on it with the attorney and immigration court with this Cancellation of Removal.
2) Can my spouse come live with me in Italy under these circumstances? Or must my spouse wait till processes all papers and is a legal resident of US? We have heard and read that Italy will accept him if he is with me his spouse. Also we been married long enough passed the 3 year or 2 year requirement. If my spouse does come to Italy to live with me would my spouse need a PdS and anything else? We also have 4 children all under the age of 17.
