General Info

Hello all,

We hope you are all staying well and sane during this unprecedented pandemic. Here in our state we are under stay at home orders until 30 April and maybe longer, depending on the data.

Even with all of these setbacks our plans to move to Italy are moving forward. In view of that, we have a few questions and will appreciate your answers based on your personal experience.
1. If you have moved from the US to Italy in the last 2-3 years and shipped household items (furniture, etc.) what shipping company did you use and were you pleased with their performance?
2. We are building a house and it may not be ready by the time we arrive in Italy. Until it is ready we will rent a small apartment. Was it necessary to store your furniture before it could be delivered to your final residence? If so, did you have it stored in the US or in Italy?
3. Our relocation will require 3 flights and our dog weighs 32 lbs (too big to go in the cabin with us). Did the trip to your destination require 2 or more flights and did you ship your larger dog? If so, did you make the arrangements yourself or did you use one of the companies specializing in pet transportation? If you used a company, which one and were you satisfied with the service and did your pet arrive in good order?
4. Once you have received your long stay visa must you depart the US immediately or can you delay departure for a while?

Thank you very much for your invaluable information.
