Hi! My wife and I are intending to soon leave the US and retire in Italy. We have a few questions that I hope someone can answer:
1. Which geographic area in Italy compares to southern California? We are seeking mild summers and mild winters.
2. We need to obtain our visa before leaving the US but have been told that to get an appointment at the Italian consulate in San Francisco it could take up to 3 years. Is there a work-around?
3. Once we get our permesso di soggiorno is it true that if we want to stay permanently in Italy we must also apply for the integration agreement (accordo di integrazione)?
4. Our Italian language skills are limited, is there a service that we can use to help us through all the paperwork?
Thank you,
Jerry and Yvonne Candela
