Starting My Journey

I will be retiring in the next 2 years and I am starting my journey to determine if Italy is where I would like to permanently settle.

My partner and I are going to start by spend 4 or 5 weeks in Italy in 2023 just to get a feel for being there for more than just a week or two on vacation.

I have traveled throughout Italy a number of times however we are looking for some advice and where a good area to stay for a month or so to get a better feel of what it might be like to be there for a long period of time. Again, this is the first step in our journey and we realize 4 or 5 weeks won't likely be a determining factor.

We thought about Florence so we didn't have to rent a car but that does cut back on our freedom to come and go as we please.

All this being said, we aren't looking to be remote. We would like to be in an smallish town/village with a quaint setting that is pedestrian friendly but where we can also have parking so we can easily visit other towns and villages.

I realize this is a bit of a broad question, but will be interested to hear the thoughts of others.

Thanks so much for taking the time.
