hiring / contracting workers for basic help

Hi Everyone,
I am a retiree in the Torino / Sanremo area, looking to find a few people who can help with very basic tasks: garden maintenance, painting, fence mending, pruning trees, cleaning, etc. Is there an agency or resource that has people for hire (like in the States, Task Rabbit, or Thumb Tack - perhaps a temp agency or virtual community board like Craigslist?)
What are any mishaps I want to avoid when hiring support and payment? All creative ideas welcome, thank you so much!
