Im currently on a visit to Jamaica. I went to PICA in Mobay today to extend my visa and to apply for "Unconditional Landing" for my daughter (my husband is a Jamaican, residing in Jamaica).
My husband and I have been separated throughout our 4 year marriage. I have been regularly coming back and forth. I am a British student, studying in the UK. Next summer I would like to obtain some work experience here to compliment my degree. The immigration officer at PICA advised that I could apply for Marriage Exemption. She gave me a information sheet, but it does not have much information about what exactly it is and what it entirely enables me to do. Ive tried to research it online to get more information, to no avail.
Besides enabling me to lawfully work, what else does it entitle me? Does it have a length restriction on it? What is the difference between the Marriage Exemption and Permanent Residency?
Thank you so much in advance for any help and information.
