Planning to move!

Hi everyone.
I'm a filmmaker and photographer from Turkey. I'm planning on moving to Jamaica intern for 3 months with the prospect of employment. I have a few questions in my mind and hope you don't mind answering a few.
So here it goes. How difficult would it be to find a job or setup a business there if that deal falls through?
I've been reading some horror stories about crime. To be honest, living in Turkey is not a walk in the park and I'm not too concerned but I still wanted to get some feedback from people who're actually living there.
I'll probably have more specific questions as things progress and get clearer regarding the internship. But for now that's all.
Also I just wanted to say hi and hope to possibly meet some of you in person over there!
