I have a teacher who mentioned in class that he was offered a job in Japan to teach at a university level. He declined, as it was not a good fit for him. However, one of the main enticements about the job was that for the first three years he would supposedly have no tax duties... either to America or Japan. Does anyone know of a system like this?
I plan on living in Japan for 2-3 years and teaching English. After that I will return to the US, and try to find a job with Japanese ties (as I DID major in business). Hopefully I will be able to get expat'ed.
In order for this all to work out, I will need to save lots of money, and go through some fairly painful relocations. It would be great if I could find a way to lessen, or even eliminate my tax burdens! On a side note, my teacher got the offer in 2000.
