Recently the Japanese Government has installed new regulations that require a dog to be quarantined for 180 days before it is admitted into the country. During this time the dog must be implanted with a microchip, receive a series of shots, and a blood test to ensure that it is freed from rabies.
This quarantine process can be traumatic as kenneling at the port of entry is often done in a sterile environment void of any socialization.
