Hi, I am looking for information and resources on smaller, rural areas to rent and live part time out of the year to maybe a full move one day. I am looking to retire in the next 4 or so years, age 60. As mentioned, I would like to spend some time in Texas USA and some time in Japan. My goal is to find relatively simple living, small metro/rural, proximity to nature, within 2 or so hours of major metropolitan areas such as Tokoyo. My time in Japan decade ago was the Kanto Plain area, so that is where my limited knowledge is.
Health care would be a consideration. Resources and knowledge in reference to health care would be helpful with my web searches.
Language is of great interest for me. My wife is shy with it, but she is interested to. I have been learning Hiragana and starting Katakana. There seems to be so many sites. Any information in reference to websites, apps, language resources would be very helpful. It would be nice to pay it forward to residents and maybe get into teaching English. I am sure that is a whole other subject.
