teachers' pay v cost of living

I have heard that cost of everything in Almaty is higher than London. Does anyone know any expat teachers and if they feel they have a reasonable standard of living on their salaries? I am talking about international or private school subject teachers, not EAL. How much would be a comfortable wage? Do they usually get accommodation included (and is it a good standard?) and annual flights home?
