Hello!
My husband's employer is possibly moving us to Clausen, Luxembourg City, Luxembourg on very short notice. We will know within the next 2 weeks wether it is for sure, and then will be in country within 4-6 weeks from then if it is a yes. Fortunately it is a very large international company, so the relocation is quite comprehensive. We would have a relocation company/lawyer/realestate agent dedicated to taking care of all of our packing, moving, paperwork and family needs including doctors appointments to pet transport.
So that is all in our favor.
However; That would put me at 35 weeks pregnant when we arrive! I am a bit worried about finding a care provider and how health coverage will work since by the time baby is born we will have only been residents for 5 or 6 weeks at most.
Does anyone have experience navigating the health system right after arriving? especially for something like the birth of a child, which we certainly cannot afford out of pocket.
We already have a toddler and will also be bringing our cats, I don't think my elderly dog would do well in quarantine so she will stay at her second home with my mother.
Pet and child friendliness is our second top concern for finding a good location.
We will have to put learning French at the top of our list, as neither of us can speak any language other than English that will be useful there (Spanish and Arabic for my husband, but only English outside of some basic phrases for myself). I think my husbands company will pay for some tutoring and we will start working on that immediately if we learn that we are for sure moving.
Any insight or advice in relation to any of the topics I have glossed over would be much appreciated, but especially on navigating giving birth just after arriving!
Thank you!
