Leaving Montreal for Ipoh Malaysia

I would like to know about the security being a single 30 yr old female. I can`t help but wonder if my blowdryer and hair flattener will be compatible with their electricity.... I`m googling as much as I can and today purchased a book about Malaysia but hearing other's experience could be beneficial to me.
