Advice needed please

Hi, I am NZ European recently retired, currently living in New Zealand. I am thinking of flying to Kuala Lumpur and buying a used car (Toyota Landcruiser/Prado or Harrier) to then spend some time travelling through Malaysia to Thailand and wherever it takes me . Adventure before Dementia
If I go to a car dealer in Kuala Lumpur am I able to buy a car ?
I would not be looking for finance and can pay cash.
Am I safe to buy from a car dealer ?
