Outdoor activities, and meeting people

Hi!
I will be in San Miguel in May, and would be interested in meeting people, english speaking mostly since I am still learning the language.
I am also wondering where some good places to hike and other outdoor activities might be.
While considering a move, I am still getting familiar with different areas.
