Here's a recap of my recent experience getting my TR in Mazatlan.
Background: I started the process at the Mexican consulate in Denver on 25 Feb 2022. I had to go online to request an appointment, then wait for someone from the consulate to call back to schedule the appointment. WARNING: if you miss their call, it's almost impossible to get a live person on the phone when you call back. I had left 3-4 messages over 2 weeks asking for a call back with no success. I resorted to calling hourly throughout the day before I got lucky and someone answered in person and I was able to schedule my appt.
The appointment at the consulate was fairly quick, but I had all my paperwork prepared and organized. We were in and out in <2hrs.
Before driving to Mazatlan, I reached out to a facilitator, Martha Armenta, +52.669.122.2871 (cell/whatsapp) to start the rest of the process. Martha had a list of questions for us that she then used to finish filling out the paperwork. NOTE: at this time, the online reservation system for INM appointments has stopped working so Mazatlan was back to walk-in only service. About a week before we drove to Mazatlan, I checked in with Martha to make sure she had all documents she needed from me before we packed everything up for our move. I also confirmed the office was not yet taking appointments.
Once we arrived in Mazatlan, I contacted Martha to schedule our in person meeting. She had a few more questions for me, and I needed to provide pictures of our FMM forms. We met Martha and her son (Edwardo) yesterday, 25 April 2022, to sign our documents, pay our TR fee, and go to the INM. Once at the INM it was a test of patience; Edwardo stayed with us throughout the entire time. We arrived at 12:45pm and finally left with our TR cards in hand just before 5pm!
I don't know for a fact if Martha helped the process to go faster, but I do know there were 3 other couples at the office getting their TRs who were there before us and who were still there waiting for their TRs when we left.
NOTE: bring water/snacks and something to keep you entertained!! There's nothing onsite for purchase and everyone waiting there commented about being hungry/thirsty. Edwardo said the shortest time he's ever spent there was a little over 2 hours. He considered 4 hours to still be "quick."
