Hi, My husband & I are wondering if Mexico is a viable retirement option for us. In Australia we enjoy a free Public health care system, Medicare, but now long queues and many practices are turning Private. We love MX and considering retiring there but our main concern is if serious health issues arise in the next 10 years, that could drain our Nest Egg quickly. I welcome feedback from Expats who may share the same "Commonwealth Countries" dilemma...(Canadians, Kiwis, etc). I understand many just enter on Tourist Visas and do not stay beyond 6 months to avoid becoming a Tax Resident, so as not to lose Medicare cover back home? so just coming & going every year...
Curious about how all living expenses "balance out" the health care/dental expenses. While in Australia we may currently enjoy relatively free health care, but that could all change in our lifetime and housing, food, transport, electricity, petrol has become extremely expensive.! We would love nothing more that to relocate and to enjoy the beautiful culture & community of Mexico. Thank you very much!
