US Expats living in Mexico, willing to host explorers?

Pardon me if Im out of line here, but I am a solo retiree looking to "Put Boots on the Ground" to see what areas in Mexico might be a good fit.

I am wondering if there are any US expats living in Mexico- willing to rent out a room for 3 weeks or a month, and play limited host about the area?

Yes I know there are Paid services & businesses to help one relocate- but I am hoping for a more personal approach.

If anyone knows of such, or IS such- would be delighted to find out more.
