Food and Music

My wife and I are considering moving abroad (she's pushing more than I am), but I would like to find a place with great food and good music. I am a big fan of the Gastro pub scene (hence the name), BBQ, authentic ethnic foods of all kinds, etc. Anyone have thoughts on places in Mexico to consider? I'm not interested in a big city, so Mexico City is probably out. Any beach towns (or close to the beach) that would fit the mold? By music I mean rock bands, Mexican music, blues, jazz, etc. Whatever as long as we could see shows regularly in clubs in a safe location. We both work remotely.
