Hello Expats!
I am a native New Yorker, just turned sixty-nine-years-old, who has been living in Mexico for about twelve years now. I married a Mexican citizen who was visiting the United States and moved her from Mexico City to the States. However, after living in the States for a while, she wanted to return to Mexico. I decided to follow her having visited Mexico in 1997 and enjoying my experience. Unfortunately, our marriage did not last, and we separated after living for two years in CDMX.
After that, I lived in Cuernavaca for a few years, a very beautiful and wonderful city, and now I have been living in Puebla for almost seven years!
I am a professional pianist (I made my living in the States accompanying ballet and dance), teaching piano, and playing for cocktail parties. In addition, I am a published author with several books on Amazon. Regrettably, I'm between a rock and a hard place regarding my marital separation. My wife who is a successful psychologist and writer said that she would return to the U.S. and obtain the divorce, but hasn't done so. And I don't earn enough to keep my apartment here in Puebla, while at the same time spending months in the U.S. petitioning for the divorce. I surrendered my apartment in the U.S. when I moved here, thus I would have to re-establish residency in the state where we married before even initiating a divorce. So, I linger in a kind of limbo.
Otherwise, I enjoy the culture and life here in Puebla. I look forward to getting to know some of you. You're welcome to ask me questions about life in Puebla and Mexico in general.
All the best,
Laurence
