Cost of living in PV, particularly rents

The obvious one! I’ve done my due diligence, of course, but it’s always good to hear it from “real” folks’. Neither my daughter nor I are wealthy but have decent enough retirement incomes to do this move, however, rents are a concern… we don’t want to live in a unit without AC with lots of cockroaches… we have our standards and, admittedly, they’re on the high side! lol. We currently live in Vancouver, BC and rents here are absolutely intolerable right now and, as only going to get worse in the future, it;s time to get out of Dodge, as it were. Any info is appreciated… thx in advance! ??.
