I have been following prices for many items in Mexico pertaining to Cabo and PV and expect some of the increases with how inflation has gone in all countries but the one that takes me a back the most is rental costs. Now I know from spending time in Mexico that you really need to be there in order to find a good place. However when I look at prices now in these two places the rent values don't make since. My method goes back about 16 months comparing the rates in my city of Calgary against those in Cabo and PV. I use the same site to be consistent also knowing that the site I use will have a heavy Airbnb influence but it gives me an idea. What I'm seeing is that the rental prices in Cabo and PV is not far off of Calgary. So even taking exchange rates in account it appears that rental cost have gone through the roof in Mexico. Is that what people are seeing there? My criteria is either 1 bedroom outside the city center and in or near the city center. City center can also be substituted for beach or distance from the beach. My question is what can one expect in reality. Of course it matters where you stay but I'm thinking of an Expat area or at an area where a lack of language skills won't doom you. So what I see being reported on a site called Numbeo.com is a 1 bedroom in Cabo near city center is $1620 CDN or $20,000 MXN per month and 1 bedroom outside of the city center is $11,750 MXN or $950 CDN per month. PV is $ 19,200 MXN near the city center and $12.800 out of center per month. If this is even close to the truth then Mexico is in for a world of hurt.
