Traveling Expat

Hi,
I am an Expat living in Tanzania. In July I am traveling to visit family in Spain and I thinking of heading down to Morroco. It's been difficult to to plan anything over the internet and impossible to get decent prices here on flights etc. I thought I might be able to get some information from the expat community.

To fly from Barcelona to Marakesh I have quoted 650USD. This is too expensive for me and was thinking of flying from Barcelona to Sevilla (57L) and renting a car and taking the ferry over and then traveling through Morocco with a rental car. There are three of us. 1 male 2 women. We have all lived in Tanzania for over 10 years and are experience "bush" drivers. Is this a good idea? I still need to check if we can take a Spainish rental car into Morocco but wanted to ask someone in country how easy or diffcult it would be to do this. I would be thankful fro any advice.
