I'm staying outside of La Chorrera, and I'm considering getting a membership at PriceSmart. I've looked at their website membership page (https://shop.pricesmart.com/pa/en/membership), and it says, "Available to any individual over the age of 18." That seems pretty clear, but that doesn’t mean it’s accurate.
The reason I'm asking is I'm wondering if there are any residency requirements. Although I'm planning on being here for about 6-12 months, I'm only here on a tourist visa, so I have no Panamanian ID whatsoever. Do I need any to get a membership?
I believe PriceSmart is owned by Costco, and I know Costco has had some restrictions on who can get memberships in Canada (this may have changed now), so I just want to check on here to see if any of you know.
Also, how does PriceSmart’s food selection compare with the other supermarkets in Panama? Is it pretty much the same, but with larger sizes, or do they carry a lot of stuff that isn't available in the other supermarkets?
Thanks
