We were in the country this week visiting Chiriqui. We visited David first, then Boquete, Las Lajas, and then back to David. What follows are our opinions, which, as the saying goes, with a quarter are worth just a quarter. YMMV We liked David a lot. The city seems to be laid back for its size, drivers are actually more chill than I'm used to in the USA, and the neighborhoods we explored were encouraging places in which we thought we could be happy living. All the resources we would need were present also. Boquete was next. The ride there was pretty, the view of the city as you approached it was great, but I was a bit disappointed in the "City of Flowers". Other than the park next to the bridge, there were no flowers around town. I was expecting more. The surrounding area is beautiful and the Boquete Garden Inn in which we stayed was stunning with its landscaping, but Boquete itself was a little drab. It was not beautiful enough to overcome its distance from better resources and lower prices. Las Lajas did not make us happy either. The waves were pretty large we did not stay in the hotel we had arranged, Brisas del Pacifico, because it was very sad, to say the least, despite having good ratings. I must say that we have lived abroad in Venezuela, Costa Rica, and Vietnam, so we may be snobs, but we do have experience in different cultures with different expectations. Well, that was our experience. Just thought we would share.
