Attordable One Way to Volcan

4 years ago
It seems as if I will be buying an older car to move around *lawyers, gov) until my shiny new plug-in-hybrid arrives. (It needs 220V, so one needs a washer/dryer outlet to charge and I have one). A scooter would probably do also fine for the time being since I need only to get from Volcán to Nueva California (16 km/10miles) where the bus brings me to La Concepción and from there to David.

I found a website that seems to be very helpful to find bus routes:

Here what it told me;
https://www.rome2rio.com/map/Volc%C3%A1n/David

I do not know how reliable or up*-to-date it is but will once I took mz first trip. For the ride I have my trusty kindle with 200+ books in it.

If someone knows of a cheap scooter rental or sells one, please tell me.

Now to the subject line:

I found one person who is willing to bring my three dogs and me for the 700 km long trip for 500USD and I believe those are gringo prices squared. Someone else was brought for 200 from the airport to Boquete bz the same driver. Inflation cannot be that high and I have -maybe wrongly- the feeling that he added the dogs as full paying passengers!

So, if someone knows someone who would help four (three canine and one human) overtired and stressed out beings to come to their new home, please post or PM me directly.

I am NOT the greedy bastard as which I may appear, but if a flight from Panama City to David costs around 135 (and only one dog is permitted per passenger), a car ride to Volcán should not cost three times as much.

If it were me alone I would bite the bullet and take the bus to Nueva California via David, but I am not. I do also nöt know how welcome dogs are on the bus. I have budgeted the move and am well within the budget so far and I try my best to continue staying within.

Any tips or connections or solutions? I don't want to be one of those, who inflate the expectations that Gringos pay any price since they are filthy rich. I may be filthy when we arrive, If I set a precedent those coming after me in a similar situation would even less have a chance to resist over-payment. I have heard from Costa Rica sources, that that already happened over there.
