Started with Costa Rica, then Belize, now checking into Panama

Hi everyone
Ive been researching potentially moving to a new country, and due to our desire for a warm climate, or perhaps more LACK of freezing weather, we are looking into the Central American countries. So far, Panama is topping my list for relative ease of relocation and residency status, taxes, etc.
My husband owns and operates an auto repair shop and we would be selling our home here and renting before potentially moving there. I speak some spanish and am currently learning, as will my children. We will have some income from rentals here in the states, but would also like to possibly find a niche where we could have a bit of income there. The area Volcan very much interests me because it isnt in the city but also has things in the vicinity that we can get to. Also that there are some expats there that would be able to help with our culture shock transition. Having some land there and being able to grow some food and raise a bit of livestock would be nice. We do have experience with both of those, although it is difficult in Florida to grow things and feed grazing animals.
Im thinking if doing a relocation tour to my top areas to see how we like the area and then potentially renting for a while to see what area we like while my husband works on the sale and legalities of our assets here.
