Hoe amplifiers

I have a Yamaha Amp that I brought with me to Panama. It doesn't work due to the power difference between my home country and here, and a power adaptor doesn't work either ($100 down the drain!). I have decided to buy a brand new - high end amplifier, like Yamaha, Denon, Linn, Nakamichi, Cambridge, KEF etc, But I cannot find any high end hifi outlets in Panama City. Or, I will try to have my current amp converted to the country's power supply, if I can find a place that does it. any help on either? Thanks.
