Choosing a vehicle to import

Hi all, my wife and I are looking at retiring to Panama within the next couple years. We need to buy a pickup truck now and want to make a decision based on what would be a good vehicle to bring into the country at a later date, serviceability-wise. We know it can be difficult to import a car that was built for a different market and to then find a mechanic who can fix it. From past experience in Central America we probably would get a diesel, which puts some limitations on selection here in the USA. An F-250 4x4 is our first thought. What do you guys think?
