FBI background checks and Panama Residency

I'm hoping to get residency through the Friendly Nations Visa and have realized that some minor infractions and a dropped felony charge (non-violent, and family "drama" provoked- which is why it was thrown out) might stop me from gaining residency.

The offenses are all non-violent, (possession of alcohol by a minor from 20+ years ago, refusal of a breathalizer, also 20+ years ago, missing court for that refusal because I was a stupid 22 year old.?.?. that kind of stuff. I'm not proud of it and have not so much received a speeding ticket in over 18 years).

tI'm in the process of having my record expunged but am concerned that the current FBI background check requirement will keep me from being allowed residency... does anyone have any recent experience with the Buena Vista process? Or guidance on whether I should even try, given the costly expense?
This would be heartbreaking as we have a really beautiful, reforestation and nature driven goal in a fairly remote area and just want to live a peaceful and tranquil life there.

Thanks in advance for any help!
