Moving to Makati- question

Moving early next year to Makati. Waiting on our condo to be finished. We are contemplating on shipping our car but have heard the taxes are crazy. I am US citizen my partner is filippinio, I know I can only bring a certain $ amount of personal items over but is it true for him as well? Looking forward to finding out more before our big move.
