The Mrs and I will be relocating to the Philippines 13 months from now. Our short list is (in order) Dumaguete, Iloilo and Bacolod. Nearby modern medical care is a high necessity. We have been living in Asia for 3 years (China) so we know and are comfortable with Asian culture and the Asian way of doing things. We do NOT want to live in the Manila area and Cebu is 4th on the list.
What can you tell us about what to expect and what comments do you have about the choices? Our pension income is $3,000 a month +/- so I suspect money is not our problem.
Our ideal home would be a rented house on or near a beach in a quiet area not far from the city. I will not consider a purchase of a house because neither of us is Filipino(a) and we cannot own the land. I will not pay to build a house on someone else's land.
