Moving to Manila

Hello,
We are a small family looking at the possibility of moving to Manila Jan/Feb. of next year.

Neither I nor my husband has ever been to Manila. We wanted to seek advice and suggestions on places to live, buying/renting furniture (is there a second hand market for furniture amongst expats?), buying a car vs. not.

We are looking into living somewhere in Makati city. My husband's job will be about 7km away. Is that too long, considering traffic? If we don't own a car, is there an effective way to commute each day?

Any advice and suggestions would be most welcome!
